Stengel bzw. Stamm: In der Kultur einzeln, am Standort rasenbildend, kugelig bis etwas gestreckt; Scheitel später stärker weißwollig; Rippen 15—20, schief, stark in Höcker aufgelöst, mit oft nur schmalen Verbindungen, Höcker bis 2 cm hoch, kegelförmig, etwas seitlich zusammengedrückt, Ober- und Unterseite mit Kante; Areolen unregelmäßig elliptisch, eiförmig oder rhombisch, 2—6 mm lang, spärlich weiß- oder gelbfilzig; Randstachel 3—5, bis 3 cm lang, pfriemlich, stielrund, unten verdickt, stechend, anfangs schwarz- oder hellbraun (bis gelblich), die oberen rubinfarbig; Mittelstachel 0—1
Blüte: anfangs schwarz- oder hellbraun (bis gelblich), die oberen rubinfarbig; Mittelstachel 0—1; Blüten 6 cm lang, 5 cm ∅; Ovarium und Schuppen grün, ebenso die Röhre; Sepalen grün, weißrandig; Petalen gelblichweiß, schwefelgelb, pfirsichblütenfarben bis rosenrot, silberglänzend; Staubfäden weiß; Griffel weiß; Narben ca. 10, hellgelb.
