Stengel bzw. Stamm: Später zylindrisch, bis 30 cm hoch, 8—9 cm ∅; Cephalium später zylindrisch, dick; Rippen 10; Areolen kahl, ca. 1 cm entfernt; Stacheln pfriemlich, leicht gebogen, 16, erst hell-, dann dunkelbraun; anfangs 3, dann 4 mittlere, später gerieft, die längsten bis 5 cm lang und 2 mm dick, die randständigen kürzer und dünner, ca. bis 1 cm lang
Blüte: 3 cm lang, dunkelrot
Frucht bzw. Samen: Samen zahlreich, glänzend schwarz. —
