Stengel bzw. Stamm: Einzeln, gedrückt-kugelig bis gestreckt, bis 15 cm hoch, bis ca. 10 cm ∅, dunkelgrün; Rippen 30—35, dünn, wellig, am Scheitel von übergeneigten Stacheln verdeckt; Areolen wenige auf einer Rippe, ca. 2,5 cm entfernt; Stacheln meist 8, der mittlere Oberst, (zuweilen auch noch ein weiterer) ± stark verlängert, flach, lineallanzettlich, gekielt und geringelt, im Scheitel zusammengeneigt, anfangs rot, später braun, 4 (—8) cm lang, ± aufrecht, die anderen spreizend, schwächer, weichpfriemlich

Blüte: 1,5—2 cm lang.
