Stengel bzw. Stamm: Pflanzen groß, kräftig, baumförmig verzweigend, mit bis zu 30 cm starkem Stamm; Glieder oft sehr groß, bis über 50 cm ø , oben breit gerundet, in der Mitte am breitesten, hart, glänzend und ± gewellt, zuerst hell-, dann dunkelgrün; B. pfriemlich, ca. 4 mm lang; Areolen fast rund, ellipsoidisch oder fasteiförmig, 5—6 cm entfernt, bis 4,5 cm ø; Gl. gelb, kurz, in festen Bündeln am oberen Areolenteil, ca. 1 mm lang, bald schmutzig gefärbt und unscheinbar; Stacheln weiß, wenige, kurz, aufrecht, abgeflacht, gerade oder gedreht, 10—15 mm lang, 1—3—4, meist 1 oder ganz fehlend
