Stengel bzw. Stamm: Blaßgrün oder stumpfgrün, kugelig oder etwas breiter als hoch, zuweilen bis 30 cm ∅; Cephalium zuletzt bis 20 cm hoch und 10 cm ∅, weißfilzig und von braunen Borsten überragt, manchmal bis dreiteilig; Rippen 11—15, gerundet, an der Basis breit; Stacheln zuerst gelb bis braun; Randstachel 12—15, nadelig, stärker spreizend, 3 cm oder mehr lang; Mittelstachel meist 4, manchmal mehr, pfriemlich, meist stärker als die Randstachel, ungleich lang, zuweilen bis 7 cm lang
Blüte: ca. 2 cm lang, unten geschwollen, Perigonbl. linearlanzettlich, ca. 5 mm lang;
Frucht bzw. Samen: dickkeulig, glänzend rot, 1,5—2 cm lang: Samen 1 mm lang, kurz-oblong, mattschwarz
Vorkommen: Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao
