Junge Triebe und Blätter werden gekocht gegessen.
Medizinisch:
Die ganze Pflanze enthält Alpha-Phenylethylisothiocyant, Gluconasturtin, Rorifon, Rorifamide.
Sie ist schleimlösend und wird in China zur Entgiftung, als Hustenmittel und Diuretikum gebraucht.
