Medizinisch:
Die Wurzel wirkt alternativ, appetitanregend, diaphoretisch, heilend, vermifuge. Der Tee aus den Wurzeln wirkt harntreibend, emmenagogue und tonisch, er diente der Behandlung von Fieber, Hämorrhoiden und unregelmäßiger Menstruation.
Der Umschlag aus den Wurzeln war ein volkmedizinisches Mittel gegen Krebs.
