Genussmittel, Nahrungsmittel:
Der Wurzelsaft wird als Aroma an Reiswein verwendet.

Medizinisch:
Die ganze Pflanze wird bei gelblichem oder rötlichem Urin, Harnröhrenentzündung, Fieber und Zahnfleischschwellungen verwendet. Die Wurzeln werden als Tonikum gegessen.
Die oberirdischen Teile enthalten Arundoin, Cylindrin, Friedelin.
